The initial stage of uranium oxidation: Mechanism of U[O.sub.2] scale formation in the presence of a native lateral stress field
Article Abstract:
The essential part of the intrinsic stress field effect in the diffusion-limited oxidation dynamics of [alpha]-uranium is discussed in a frame of the (110) anion hopping, postulated in the 2:2:2 clustering model. A comparison of anisotroppic hopping and isotropic hopping revealed that isotropic hopping has a lower activation, thus displaying a relatively stronger impact at lower temperatures due to isotropic diffusion.

Role of stress in the self-limiting oxidation of copper nanoparticles
Article Abstract:
The oxidation kinetics of Cu nanoparticles and their temperature dependences are described using an in-situ X-ray diffraction (XRD) method. The oxidation behavior (self-limiting or non-self-limiting) was found to be directly related to the stress condition in the oxide shell and it helps in understanding the self-limiting oxidation kinetics of metal nanoparticles and also the control of their oxide thickness.

Solvothermal preparation and spectroscopic characterization of copper indium diselenide nanorods
Article Abstract:
High-purity chalcopyrite CuInSe2 nanorods (CuInSe2NRS) were synthesized solvothermally. X-ray diffraction and electron microscopic examinations CuInSe2 show a single-crystalline structure for the chalcopyrite crystals and Raman scattering, near-infrared absorption confirm the single crystalline structure and uniform size distribution.
